Primary mission

The Association Act to Protect Our Culture and Environment for the Future, abbreviated to A.P.O.C.E. F’ defines itself as one of the major players contributing, through programmes and projects, to concrete action to protect and safeguard the environment and culture, cultural and natural heritage, and to promote endogenous knowledge of conservation and management of heritage sites,  promoting peace through traditional systems for preventing, managing and resolving conflicts over heritage, promoting the consumption of local products and promoting local arts and crafts, all against a backdrop of humanitarian, ecological, climatic and security crises.

Specifically and operationally, A.P.O.C.E.F's mission is to make its contribution through the following actions

Specific missions

  • support the protection of natural and cultural resources through concrete actions likely to promote protected areas and eliminate the negative impact of human activities and actions aimed at preventing risks and reducing pollutants and other damage caused to the environment in general and to heritage sites in particular;
  • - support the protection, preservation, safeguarding, monitoring, enhancement and transmission of the tangible and intangible aspects of cultural heritage;
  • - set up waste and refuse management programmes for the well-being of communities;
  • - Set up artistic and cultural education programmes to support communities and young people;
  • - promote the consumption of local products by eradicating food insecurity among target populations;
  • - promote the diversity of cultural expressions;
  • - develop activities to protect, manage, monitor and enhance cultural and natural heritage at risk;
  • - carry out economic studies on the contribution of culture in general and heritage in particular;
  • - carry out environmental and cultural impact studies;
  • - carrying out research activities;
  • - lobbying and making representations to national and international institutions, the media and civil society to ensure that endogenous and local knowledge is taken into account in order to protect the environment, safeguard culture, heritage and values, and to promote CCIs for participatory, inclusive and sustainable regional development;
  • - provide training in cultural and creative entrepreneurship;
  • - improve the living conditions of communities through culture;
  • - carry out activities to promote the arts and culture and support the various players in order to boost the creative and cultural industries in the Sahel regions;
  • - support communities in gaining national and international recognition for their heritage, particularly cultural (tangible and intangible) and natural heritage on the Representative Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage and World Heritage.
