A word from the President

Dear friends of culture and nature, a minute of your time visiting this showcase is a token of your commitment to supporting our passion, which strengthens our conviction.  ‘Protecting what is left so that we can breathe, live and hope for the future we want...’ is the credo of the association Act to Protect Our Culture and Environment for the Future (APOCEF), which is working on the ground in a context where the Sahel regions are facing challenges linked to insecurity, climate change or disruption, conflict and extreme poverty. The aim is to strengthen community resilience and adaptability to the effects of climate change on cultural and natural resources through programmes and projects linked to culture and the environment. It works to contribute its expertise to enable culture and the conservation sector in general to flourish and to be seen as a lever for development in the Cameroonian Sahel, given that in a context of decentralisation, each territory must develop on the basis of its resources.
Join us, and let's hope for the future we want for the communities of the septentrion!

To this end, the APOCEF association is seeking to implement concrete actions combining culture and the environment, relating to the preservation, protection, safeguarding, management, monitoring, transmission and enhancement of the various forms of heritage, while focusing on the development and promotion of cultural and creative industries with the help of local players. In the long term, these concrete actions will enable many new and adapted solutions or responses to be provided following the implementation of appropriate and innovative initiatives in the Sahel region of Cameroon in the short, medium and long term.  The gradual implementation of these actions aims to protect the environment and culture in general, and specifically to preserve and enhance the memorial, creative, cultural and natural heritage in order to have a visible, tangible and concrete impact. This, with a view to restoring a little hope and dignity to local communities, developing and making accessible the cultural offer with the aim of stimulating tourism in all its forms and contributing to structuring the cultural sector, led by the ministerial department in charge of the country's art and culture for a participative, inclusive and sustainable development of the territories, all in a context of humanitarian, ecological, climatic and security crisis.
